Highly Sensitive & Neuro Diverse Leader, Change Worker, Hufflepuff, Follower of Ancient Wisdom and Writer

Outside of the box, feeling all the feels in a world that says be strong...

And if that resonates with you, you are so not alone! I help highly sensitive, neuro-diverse women drop the mask and get back in touch with their brilliance, wisdom and inner magic so they can enjoy successful careers without the overwhelm.

Here's the bit where I blow my own trumpet and bang my own drum which always feels a bit noisy and uncomfortable. This is the bit where I need to  converse with the little voice in my head that says "Pipe down, you're setting yourself up for a fall!"  You might know the one. That little inner voice that rears up whenever we make ourselves very visible or put stuff out there. I've learned it's not a bully, or even an enemy. It's more my health and safety officer and we need to check in with each other and decide if it's safe enough to proceed. I guess I've learned to work with it rather than against it. Anyway I digress. I do that a lot....

I get that it helps to know who I am and what my credibility is. And that's important information, especially for when you are considering working with me.  So here's the CV-like stuff you might need to know.

In my late teens and twenties I had a successful sporting career, winning titles and medals and spending over ten years as part of the Great Britain judo team.

Retiring from sport I continued working in education. I've held senior leadership positions in 5 different organisations, including those going through change and restructure.

I am currently a deputy head teacher / vice principal within a secondary pupil referral unit and I love the work that I do.

Alongside my leadership within education I have also been an associate writer on a mental health curriculum in the North of England and a consultant.

Trained and qualified in a range of change work, coaching and therapeutic frameworks, I am a Master Practitioner in NLP, a hypnotherapist and a Reiki Practitioner. I'm registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register and Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council.

I draw on a depth and range of skills and experience, as well as tools that help me manage my day to day work and life. I'm not floating about on an ideal cloud of leadership perfection, I'm still a work in progress, and my day to day challenges bring me face to face frequently with my own tricksiness and difficulties which is why I soooo get it!

Here's what I

know now more

than ever....

For those of us who are wired differently, expending all of that energy it takes to dance around and mask that difference, at work and in life,is exhausting. And it serves nobody, least of all us. What the world needs now more than ever is for us to show up fully, tricksiness, quirkiness, nerdiness and all, and for us to let our inner light and heart shine out like a beacon of hope in a world of conformity, rigidity, brittleness and walls. That's not always easy and is a journey best done with fellow travellers. It needs us to screw our courage to the sticking place, for us to cultivate a supportive community and for us to have clarity on who we are, what we stand for, the environment and working culture that best suits us and what our highest purpose is.

When we hide who we are and spend time and energy diverting from that, when we subscribe to conventional views of what success and leadership have to look like,we are doing ourselves, our colleagues and those who share our life, a great disservice and we continue the myth that in order to be successful or a leader you need to do and be x, y and z.  And it doesn't have to be that way. By being prepared to be the change at individual level, we create the space for collective and cultural shift. And we stop feeling broken.

What I now know is those things you are denying and hiding are the very things that are at the heart and source of your power, agency and health.  I'm calling for phoenix healing tears on those wounds you carry and for you to see that you occupy a unique point in space and time, an intersection of your gifts, history, quirks, and essence.  You carry inside of you a story that is yours and yours alone to breathe life into. And this world and your community needs more than ever for you to be the you that you, and only you, can be.

I know too that, maintaining that mask is impossible. The personal cost of attempting to is soul deep and leaks out in illness, burnout, melt down, overwhelm, imposter syndrome and depression. I've been there and it's no fun. It's my why. It's my why to help other highly sensitive women who are wired differently to side step those things and take a shortcut to understanding that their difference is their very magic and that the gifts we can bring to work and to leadership are so needed right now.
